President's Message
Hello THLU!
The summer travel season is here! However, Airstreamers travel all the time, right? It's just that summer travel usually means longer trips.
Our May rally on Galveston Island was lots of fun. We had a “No Host” rally, which made the weekend very relaxing. We had the best weather ever! I think having the potluck midday on Saturday worked well as it allowed time to see more of Galveston in the evening. Also, a big thanks to the owners, Chris Grant and Rusty Walla, who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Currently, we plan to have the installation rally the end of October 26 - 29, 2017 there.
Thanks to all of you that responded to our request for your summer travel plans and we will be sending your plans along in an email.
Our travels take us to South Texas, later this month, where we split our time between playing at South Padre Island with friends and taking care of our place in La Feria. We will then leave for Michigan to volunteer again at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore near Glen Arbor, Michigan from mid July to mid September. We have recruited our Big Bend volunteer friends to join us so it should be like “old home week.”
Also, I want all to know how much Debbie has done to make this leadership transition smoother for me. She has spent untold hours learning and creating our communication system for THLU. I hope she knows how much I appreciate her!
Debbie and I wish all of you safe and exciting travels. Look for our next newsletter in September.

Change for May Rally 2017
The May rally will be by the cooling waters of the Frio River in Concan, Texas at Parkview Riverside RV Park from Thursday, May 18 - 21. You may arrive on Wednesday, if you like. May Community Service Project
Our Community Service Project for our May rally was St. Vincent's Episcopal House in Galveston. This is truly "an oasis of Hope, Expecting Miracles." They serve the disadvantaged, under-served, and working poor population in the Galveston community. Their list of services is huge. They partner with several other non-profits to provide small grants to individuals and families in crisis, transportation to appointments, hot meals to the elderly and disabled and sack lunches for the homeless among many other services. Their facility houses a small Food Pantry, Peace Chapel, a pre-school,and a medical / dental / eye clinic which is staffed by medical students from UTMB. In addition they have education classes as well as prevention and wellness classes. John and I were so impressed with this amazingly comforting and cheerful facility. And the staff / volunteers that we met were such warm and caring people. They truly value the people they serve. They are truly angels. Many thanks to Angela for taking the time to give us a tour of this wonderful place. And many thanks to our members who donated food or money for this wonderful group.

Constant Contact for Gmail Users
Gmail recently created a promotions tab to filter bulk mailings like Constant Contact. As a result, emails and events, etc from Constant Contact go to a promotions mailbox instead of your PRIMARY or INBOX. Some of you may have figured this out but I wanted to share this with you in hope that you will get our communications. From what I have figured out, you can delete the promotions tab (then all bulk emails will land in your PRIMARY or INBOX). Also, you can STAR the email so future emails from CC go into the PRIMARY INBOX or Click and drag the email to the PRIMARY Inbox. Here is the link that explains about the tabs:
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/3055016?hl=en. Call Debbie Trimble for more information at 972-422-5133.
